I have been enjoying the Long Beach Peninsula on the Washington Coast so much that I wanted to design and build art that reflects this wonderful place. There’s something deeply personal and joyful about sharing the Long Beach Peninsula through Ballard Models—it’s more than a place, it’s a living story. Every dune, lighthouse, and weathered wharf carries a tale of resilience, maritime heritage, and natural wonder. By designing models, maps, and puzzles inspired by this breathtaking coastline, I get to offer others a tangible piece of its spirit. It’s about bringing home the scent of salt air and the echo of history, captured in thoughtfully crafted pieces that honor the place I’m proud to call one of my homes. Seeing others connect with it—whether through assembling a model or exploring a topographic puzzle—is the perfect way to keep its magic alive. 

Building the Tide and Weather display was a perfect fusion of my love for art and my fascination with technology. I started with a vision: to craft something that not only functions with precision—delivering real-time conditions right from the Pacific coast—but also visually captures the rhythms and textures of the Long Beach Peninsula. Each component, from the real time data capture to the layout of the tide charts, reflects that creative balance. The result isn’t just a tool—it’s an experience: intuitive, elegant, and deeply connected to place. Every wire, graph, and data point becomes part of a story told through both circuitry and design. I also wanted everything I build to be affordable, and at the same time support the community.
